History of Tyrnog Racing Yard
The family of the current owners of Tyrnog Racing Yard & Tyrnog Liveries (previously Tyrnog Stud) have trained racehorses for over thirty years.
Edward Hollister Owen (father to one and grand father to another current owner) trained quite a few winners from under rules, notably the useful chaser Rupertino who won 10 chases for the late Lord Kenyon, and came fifth in the Grand National.
One of the current owners, Ray Owen, has a long track record in competing, including representing the British Pony Club team in 1995 in the Tetrathalon (a combination of shooting, swimming, running and riding). He also qualified for Tweseldown, a prestigious 3 day eventing competition.
Ray has 14 years experience in point to point racing as a trainer, co-owner (with his wife Bethan) and jockey and in this time has had some notable wins. Their accumulated knowledge and experience ensure that the whole yard is set up with the aim of ensuring quality care for all horses.
